These salt cellars are handcrafted from reclaimed Tōtara and Rimu. Finished with a blend of tung oil and beeswax, they not only offer a practical solution for holding salt or sugar but could also be used to store small trinkets.

The use of containers for salt dates back thousands of years, with ancient Egyptians, Greeks, and Romans employing various forms of salt holders. Salt was a precious commodity, essential for preserving food and enhancing flavor.
