Rene Jansen has been designing and making furniture for most of his adult life. Working from a large converted packing shed in Oratia, West Auckland, he approaches his craft with curiosity and depth, exploring form, material, and meaning to create pieces that feel both familiar and new.
His mid-century-inspired tubular and timber tables evoke a sense of endless summers by the sea, yet sit effortlessly within contemporary interiors. Each piece reflects his belief that good design should feel connected to place, grounded in culture, but open to reinterpretation.
In his latest exploration, Rene’s long-held interest in Japanese design has inspired Tokubetsu — a refined series of dining and occasional tables that celebrate restraint, craftsmanship and quiet beauty.
