Loom Studio - Sara Santoro

Sara Santoro is a Hawke’s Bay-based creative, crafting naturally dyed woven art and homewares from her small garden studio.

With a background in Communication Design (Bachelor of Design, Victoria University of Wellington, 1996) and more recently in Landscape Design (2019–present), Sara’s work is a thoughtful fusion of her lifelong passions: colour, nature, interiors, and sustainable materials.

In 2024, she discovered the world of botanical dyeing, which quickly became a natural extension of her creative practice. This discovery allowed her to unite her design sensibility with her love of gardens and the environment, resulting in a growing body of work that is both tactile and environmentally conscious.

Sara’s latest collection features 100% plastic and synthetic-free woven pieces for the home, made from undyed threadwaste New Zealand wool and raw linen. Each piece is hand-dyed using plant materials either grown in her own garden or foraged from nearby areas, ensuring every creation is uniquely rooted in her local landscape.

Sara's work displays thoughtful, handcrafted pieces that celebrate slow processes, natural beauty, and sustainable living.
