Kahurangi Studios is a cross-disciplinary studio exploring the intersection of arts and engineering. Founded by Hamish Campbell (Ngāti Raukawa Te Au ki te Tonga), a mechanical engineer with an affinity for design, Kahurangi Studios reflects a commitment to merging innovation with tradition.

 

Hamish brings experience in product development across industries such as medical devices, consumer electronics, and tapware. He weaves this technical expertise with his strong personal identity to navigate the Kahurangi waka. 

Each deck is made to listeners' tastes, both acoustically and aesthetically using a combination of natural materials, tuned damping and careful construction of an engineered acrylic chassis. The high-inertia platter, belt-driven by a synchronous AC motor, delivers stable and quiet playback, allowing fine detail to be drawn from the record's grooves. Built slowly and honestly, and built to last.
